There are several simple strategies every small business can employ to jump on the social marketing bandwagon. Below I have listed just a few and the best thing about them is they require very little time and money.

A massive part of social marketing is detective work, you need to look for your customers and find out what sites they like to visit. If your customers are like most people they will probably hang out on social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace to share opinions and ideas. Once you think you have found the customers who fit your target market you can then begin to offer your expertise and thus gain their trust and build up a relationship. You will then become the person that other people want to do business with.

Another useful tip is start blogging. This continues to be a great way to communicate with your customers and an easy way to build up the content of your website. Blogging is about syndicating knowledge and ideas on topics that are relevant to your site. The beauty of blog posts is that you can link back to other blog posts or other pages on your website which are related to the subject you are blogging about. Blogging is undoubtedly a key element of social marketing and an important strategy for search engine optimisation (SEO).
