Most people have absolutely no clue how to structure a website for optimal performance in the search engines in terms of SEO (search engine optimisation). One important factor comes with choosing a domain.
Choosing a domain is an integral part of any SEO campaign. However, for most people by the time they have considered they need search engine optimisation it’s more than likely that they already have a domain and functional website. The main reason the domain and company name is important is because most people will link to your website using your domain or company name as the link text. So make sure your domain contains at least one of your keywords in it. But remember if your domain is too long people will not remember it and find it difficult to enter into the browser.
Additionally, the age of your domain is also a significant factor when it comes to SEO (search engines optimisation). The age is calculated from the date it was first registered and in Google’s eyes the longer a domain has been registered, the more likely it is to be a quality site. So if you have a recently bought a brand new domain and want to rank for competitive keywords you will need to wait for your domain to gain the trust from the search engines before it becomes beneficial in terms of SEO.
