What is LSI and why is it important?
Latent Semantic Indexing or 'LSI' is the creation of word associations within a context, which Google is able to use to help establish the topic of any given web page. It is the comparison of how frequent words emerge together in a specific document and then compares how often those events occur in every single document that Google has indexed.
But why is this relevant and important to your site? Google as a company brought in a software application which has the ability imitate human understanding that facilitates a more effective retrieval of information. It understands and extracts knowledge from information storages and websites using this 'human-like' feature. LSI is implemented and taken into consideration when Google revises the websites Page Rank.
LSI has the ability to decide how relevant your site is by the comparison of your site content to other existing sites that have high trust in the market your site is relevant to.
Search engines that incorporate LSI into their system will compare words, concepts and the structure of the pages within your site with all relevant existing sites with a high reputation. So Google will view each and every page in your site which helps contribute to the sites 'authority'.
If Google does not think the information and content on these pages are at all relevant to what your site is about then you will simply not get a high ranking.
