We've been talking a lot recently about international search engine optimisation projects and we're not going to stop now. We have been discussing translation and optimisation from an on-page SEO perpective but it's important to remember the off-page factor, just like every other SEO project that we do.
If you are targetting countries globally you need to get backlinks from local websites in order to gain a presence there and results on their search engine natural results. When studying search engine optimisation you can split up your findings into 2 groups, on-page and off-page optimisation. Once you've covered on-page with the translation and the usual techniques, you can concentrate on getting backlinks to complete the other part of the project, these need to be backlinks from your target country so that the search engines see you have relevance to that place geographically.
Ensure that the backlinks you attain have good pagerank otherwise they will be worth less to the search engines and you will be wasting your time, unless you are targetting China with your international SEO!
