A customers end goal when setting up a search engine optimisation project is to generate more traffic coming in to the website and therefore have a higher chance of increased sales. Our aim as an SEO company is to increase ranking results in the natural listings for targeted keywords so therefore increasing the chance of more traffic, obviously we can't force people to go on your website!
Traffic is a tricky factor because with all of our efforts on an SEO project we still can not guarantee an increase in traffic, or be blamed for a drop in traffic, because nothing we can do can affect the amount of traffic. Our techniques are proven to get your website higher on Google rankings but depending on the target keywords, time of year, market and ecomony etc the traffic level may vary in line with other factors. A good example of this is email marketing which is a great way to get instant increases in traffic, or if you stop a PPC campaign then it's very likely your traffic will go down.
This is really just a warning and to make sure that your company understands SEO before looking for an agency to optimise your website, of course when we get you on page 1 then it's like an 'un-said-guarantee' that there will be more traffic!
