Make the most out of your backlinks and internal links by using SEO friendly link text and alt text. Link text is very simply the text that is used as the link, and if you make this text keyword rich with terms that you are targetting for that page that you are linking to, it will give more value and relevance to that link. For example, this link 'search engine optimisation' is pointing at page about SEO and therefore this link text holds a lot of relevance to the landing page.

Alt text is mainly referred to when talking about images but can also be used on links, it is the text that appears in a box when hoovering over the link. It can also be called link title, and again making this keyword rich will make that link more SEO friendly.
