As anyone involved in SEO and internet marketing would tell you, PageRank is an extremely important factor when it comes to getting your site climbing the search engines. PageRank is a value that represents how important a page is on the web, from 0 being the lowest to 10 being the highest. Google works out that when one page links to another page, it is effectively voting for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be.

Google also looks at the importance of the page that is being voted for and determines how important the vote itself is. This means that it is best to get links from websites that have a high PageRank as it reflects very well on your site. PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results. It isn't the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.

Although PageRank is important, it’s not the only aspect of SEO that should be focused on. It is still vitally important that you create relevant content and link to relevant sites.
