Google have built up a well-deserved reputation as the world's most popular search engine and has grown into a multi-billion dollar business with a strong brand identity. They use a crawler-based service that provides coverage of the web as well as providing relevant search results. On Google you are able to easily find images from the internet based on the users search term along with other statistical tools such as Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools and Google Adwords.
Yahoo
Yahoo uses its own search technology so they have the freedom to generate their own results in a similar way as Google. Yahoo also use tabs above the search box on the home page to find pictures, Yellow Page listings and also use Yahoo's shopping search engine. Similar to Google, Yahoo also offers a paid placement advertising service which appears on the right hand side of the search results.
Bing
The Microsoft search engine has only recently changed their name to Bing in order to rebrand itself as a modern, question answering search engine. Their new home page displays a beautiful and inspiring image, which is pleasant on the eye as well as providing facts about the image. The MSN search engine has features such as hotmail login, related searches and video search.
