Mature Domains

It is well known that search engines can penalise sites for having immature domains. A young domain is classed as under 12 months but it seems that the older your domain is, the more trustworthy it is. Google is believed to have a bad reputation for penalising the newest of domains.

If your site has been around for a considerable amount of time then it will be seen as more reliable and much less risky and vulnerable. The main reason for this is that an older website is less likely to suddenly disappear but will stay as it is for a longer period of time.  More mature sites will be more dependable on for adding new and relevant content to their sites to keep up to date and to make sure their customers come back. This means that the search engines will keep their users as the results will still be good.

It is difficult to change search engines opinions of your young domain but there are some ways of trying to work around this factor. You can try techniques such as purchasing older domains which redirect to your site, or having links from old sites. The best thing to do really is to purchase your domain as soon as possible when creating a site, even if the site isn't live the fact that the domain is registered is a good thing.
