Say No to Keyword Stuffing

In many of the blogs on this website we have mentioned Keyword Rich Content. What we mean by this is content that contains  a certain density of searchable terms but is proper text designed to be read by a human.

Because Search Engine Spiders are not humans, and can see things that humans cannot it is tempting to gain their attention by placing large volumes of keywords where the human eye cannot see them. This is known as keyword stuffing. A simple version of this is to cram a few hundred keywords and keyphrases into a single block that is then coloured to match the site background.

A slightly more technical way to do keyword stuffing is to put this block of text into the meta tags of the page but even this won't help much. One of the aims of the new Search Engine Algorithms is to ensure that the site they are presenting on the first page of the SERPs is the most relevant to the human audience of the web. For this very simple reason keyword stuffing now has little positive effect on the placement of your site within the SERPs and instead it can have a negative effect as a site that uses keyword stuffing can be flagged as a spam page by the spiders.
