SEO For Christmas Sales

The economic crisis may have eased off, but shoppers are still very much in the mood for saving money and shopping online is one of the best ways to lower the cost of Christmas. Selling online is far more cost efficient than selling through a bricks and mortar store and the savings made by the business can be passed onto the customers.

Consumers have not only picked up on these savings they have also begun to shop around for bargains. So how do you make sure that the store they find is yours and not your competitor's?

At times like this the long tail key phrase really comes into it's own. So, instead of optimising for "Christmas sales" go for the longer phrases that are more specific to your business.  If you sell entertainment products maybe push for "MP3 Players in christmas sales". Also make sure you know what your customers are searching for as it may be that most are not searching with the word Christmas at all. Instead they may be searching the far more general phrase,"iPod at sale price", or "cheap iPods". Given that we are now only three weeks away from Christmas a common search may be "iPod, next day delivery". So it is definitely worth not taking the obvious phrases and instead push the less common but possibly more reasonable long tail search phrases.
