What Does 2010 hold for SEO

SEO is not a static process, as SEO experts we need to consider what is coming up on the horizon and be ahead of the game in considering how this will affect us and what our options are to either defend ourselves (and our clients) or to catch the wave of opportunity and use it to power our campaigns.

Speed as a ranking factor has been proposed before and it seems that this may be the year that site speed is truly considered in the quality score of your website. This makes sense from a search perspective, no-one wishes to be served a site that never finishes loading, but may impact dramatically on image and application heavy websites. For the most part this will create a drive to ensure your site is on a server capable of delivering good speed and a move towards even cleaner code to keep load times down.

The dominance of YouTube as a search engine has been established through 2009 and this trend is sure to continue. While many companies are using YouTube as a marketing channel many still are not and have the opportunity to make use of the resource not only as a direct marketing resource but also in a way to build up their SEO results.

Working within the SEO industry has not, until now, been noted for requiring the reactions of a snake on a hot tin roof. That may change and all SEO experts may have to become the ninjas of the net to keep up with the impact of search results yielding realtime results from particular websites. Certainly the window to deal with negative posts and spamming via Twitter and the various blog networks will be massively reduced and as the realtime capability of the search engines increases so to will the need to be strategic about when your own blogs are posted.

2010 is looking to be hot year for SEO as we move further into the public eye. SEO Junkies are aiming to become the SEO heroes of the decade and we would love to demonstrate these skills on your site.
