We all want to get our website on to page one for our keywords and we want them as soon as possible but how long does it take for SEO to show results on the search engines. This is the question that all search engine optimisation specialists get asked and one question that has not got a direct answer to it, search engines are funny things and nobody really know how they work so it is almost impossible for anyone to guarantee how long it will take to show results.

Although no one can really say how long it will take for SEO to show results there are factors that can be taken into consideration, things such as how old the website or URL is and will also depend on how competitive the market is for the keywords that you are targeting. Obviously the more competitive the market the harder it is going to be for you to show on the results and this can also be the case if your website is new as it will take time for the search engines to trust your website.

Most SEO specialists will advise that it can take at least 6 months to start seeing your rankings however this is not to say that you will not see results before this but this is the guideline that you should work to. You can do things to help this process and things such as having a site structure that search engine spiders can crawl easily and having clear and precise content so that the spiders can understand the subject of will all help to improve your chances of gaining results quicker.

This is a good summary of the situation. I would add that many companies haven't optimised their site properly, so there is often an initial hike in results that can be misleading about the following speed of improvement. Stay patient though as things do improve and gain momentum. JF
