SEO Is Nothing Without Reporting

It’s all well and good choosing your 10 ‘potentially’ wonderful keywords that will ‘potentially’ bring you vast volumes of traffic but without solid reporting on a monthly basis, the SEO efforts are useless. A successful search engine optimisation campaign always needs to start on a solid foundation with keyword research that takes into account the authority of the site and the potential traffic volumes that the site will receive if it achieved this page 1 position 1 result. This is all well and good on paper, but reality is often very different and regular reporting can highlight these facts.

Google Analytics should be the site both SEO specialists and clients visit every day in order to find out whether the current SEO strategy is working and what other keywords need to be targeted in order to attract relevant traffic. Google Ecommerce Tracking also helps to find the keywords that are bring the result for your SEO efforts. One keyword may be generating vast volumes of traffic but if people aren’t getting out their credit card and buying the items then your efforts are futile. If this is the case then the focus will need to shift more to conversion rate optimisation and what on page aspects need to be addressed; from page layout and structure to overall design and payment process.

At the end of the day, if you’re not monitoring your site then your site will have no chance of increasing revenue.
