Selecting Efficient Keywords for SEO

The most important aspect of any SEO campaign has to be selecting the right keywords to optimise your website for. These are the words or phrases that potential customers will type into Google, and which you want to appear high up on the results pages for. There are almost limitless possibilities, but in order to get a good keyword density you want to optimise for around 10 or 11 main SEO keywords. How should you go about narrowing down which keywords to optimise for?
