As Google+ was recently released for brands and businesses it has been quickly picked up by many, and now we can see that Google are running some further experimental steps to help its success. These steps are increasing the prospect that businesses that overlook this new online marketing tool will be at a great disadvantage compared to any competitors that appropriately use it.
So far it is officially unannounced, but for both users and non users of Google+ information is starting to appear in organic search results pages. This information includes the number of +1 votes and any comments on that particular post. Currently Google isn’t providing this for every Plus account; it seems only some of the Direct Connect enabled accounts are being put into practice. For some accounts that are being trialled it is also offering Google+ users (when logged in) a chance to add the pages to their circle directly from a button on the SERP, which is optimistically going to increase the ease and popularity of the overall service.
These early stage ‘trials’ that are being carried out by Google are only a taste of things to come, but it is implied by snip bits like this that Google + is not just going to be affecting businesses social media activity, but could also affect their Search engine marketing.
