Google Plus Is Now Open To Third Party Apps

Social Media contender Google+ recently announced the news that it will be allowing it’s API to be access by third party apps.

Today social media optimisation experts saw a gleam of hope as Google+ opened up its API access to a select few third party apps. Six parties were chosen, including Hootsuite, to be granted this access. However, even Hootsuite itself has limited access to their new social media marketing addition and are only allowing their enterprise customers to access it.

Whilst social media optimisation is vital to any social media marketing campaign, if the correct tools aren’t used it can take up a large proportion of your time. However, this is an unnecessary compromise. With social media marketing suites such as Hootsuite, it is easy to manage multiple social media accounts from one location, meaning that you can post across all platforms in one go. Furthermore, you can also publish numerous posts in advance and avoid the hassle of having to log in and post every day.

For these reasons, social media optimisation experts are frustrated that we are still having to wait for Google+ to join the ranks of its competitors in social media marketing suites. It seems as if Google+ is always one step behind the rest of its competitors and yet we feel its importance through its connection to the search engine platform. It is just a little concerning that the giant so important to SEO is lagging behind in the social media marketing race. Hopefully we will see a change in pace soon.
