There are many different techniques available for inclusion in internet marketing campaigns, which individually have specific benefits, and when the right ones are combined help bring success to any online campaign. However as technology changes, so do people’s needs, and there are often certain resources that are left undesired. Search engine giant Google have found this an issue and following unsuccessful launches of a number of their services, they have recently announced that they will be withdrawing seven of their services. The decision, which is being labelled as their ‘spring clean’, is being considered by some as a manner to allow them to put more focus and emphasis on their recently launched Google+ service.
Many of the services that are on their way out were somewhat done with already, however the removals are all now official. The seven Google services that are going to be withdrawn are:
•Knol
•Google friends connect
•Google Wave
•Google Gears
•Google Bookmarks list
•Google search timeline
•Renewable energy cheaper than coal
Google have stated that the withdrawal of these services is in reflection of the un-popular response that they have received, and that others will be integrated as features into their broader product efforts. The general aim of the ‘spring clean’ has been described by Google as a way to make the overall user experience much easier for customers, and to make the service much more spontaneous.
