Google have just made life so much easier for anyone using video as an effective part of their online marketing campaign, letting you track not only video effectiveness but helping you see video in its true place in your marketing and SEO campaign.
The statistics available through YouTube Insights were pretty cool, and gave some pretty good information – the kind of thing that TV producers can get their hands on from the transmission info – but the new YouTube Analytics has just blown the old reports completely out of the water.
The interface will be familiar to everyone involved in online marketing or SEO, it’s pretty much the same as that on Google Analytics. Viewer engagement, loyalty and frequency as well as instant demographics means that you can see exactly which videos are making the intended impact, no matter what purpose your videos hold.
Better yet you can see a genuine breakdown of views from embedded players vs views on youtube itself, though it seems you still can’t see exactly how many other sites your video has been embedded on, which is information I always want to know as it is a solid figure that proves not just the audiences take up of a video but exactly how ‘viral’ it has gone.
All of this combines to form a really useful report of a video’s effectiveness and we can only hope that this wakes the general public up to the usefulness of online video in your internet marketing campaign, not to mention the SEO benefits and the chance for some direct earnings off a video that people like!

Excellent piece on the "new Youtube analytics". Since any web analytic data is such an important part of SEO and Marketing Strategy I found this post to be worth the read. Will be sure to do some extra research on the topic at hand.
