It might be a bit early for spring cleaning but when it comes to making everything shiny and new, there is no time like the present!
The new SEO junkies homepage not only adds in our twitter feed, which has been getting a lot of attention lately, check it out at twitter.com/seojunkies, it also adds in our latest SEO Client Testimonials, where our clients vouch for the effectiveness of our work.
It’s an exciting time to be in SEO, with lots of development on the Google Front and the prospect, if the antitrust case against Google makes any headway, of a more varied playing field in the world of Search Engines. The other fascinating development through 2011 has been the uptake of Social Media by major corporations. Personal interest in customers’ needs has never been higher from organisations that used to take a very ‘us and them’ view of online marketing.
The eCommerce world which, understandably, is SEO’s main customer base has also enjoyed a successful year, flying in the face of international economic difficulties to prove that, for retail at least, the internet is the place to be to make money.
So as Christmas draws near and we look forward to next year we wonder: “what is the next big thing, what developments will 2012 bring”
Well my predictions are that despite the antitrust suit failing, Google will still look to integrate and minimise some of its more remote properties, working to make disparate elements of the system more homogenous. For us this could be a good thing as it will mean richer content to work with and lots of creative ways to use this integration.
I would also expect to see more effort to remove spammy content, but it will all be for nought if Google doesn’t start being a bit more revealing in its information, as the still prevalent desire for backlinks is, I feel, driven by the lack of an alternative focus.
Finally I expect Mobile Web to be a major driver in ecommerce as well as SEO, geo tagging and search intents for mobile will really start to be a driver. I also suspect that there will be a realisation of the requirement to recognise tablets and mobiles as separate entities as tablets make notebooks look like the slow starting dinosaurs they really are.
Either way, 2012 looks like being a really exciting year!
