Understanding SEO content

Articles and blog posts and on-page – oh my! As there are many forms of copy-writing used with the process of search engine optimisation (or SEO) it’s easy to get confused between the different forms of on-page and off-page content. Here I will explain in brief what each form is and how they are used to improve the SEO on a website.

Major types of off-page SEO content

Blog posts – Any content uploaded to the site blog module. This form of SEO content is extremely useful; as it can create greater user engagement, increase the amount of relevant content on your site and help you rank higher on Google for your keywords if you use them to their full potential. They can be written to communicate news or special offers and are a relaxed, often informal way of getting information out to customers and clients as well as a great way to achieve search engine optimisation goals. They don’t even have to be long, like this one. About 200 well-chosen words posted once a week can make a world of difference in quite a short space of time.

Press Releases – Another method of communicating with customers and clients, which is specifically directed at the media in order to make public announcements. Our SEO specialists create press releases as part of our search engine optimisation services in order to syndicate them out to high PR (page rank) websites. This increases backlinks for our clients, which in turn can increase brand awareness and drive traffic towards conversions.

Articles – These are very similar to press releases, only instead of being aimed at customers and clients, these are aimed purely at the search engines. Rich in keywords and lexical words, they help a site to attract backlinks from directories as well as showing the search engines how relevant your content is to searches in your industry.
