In just over 4 weeks time Google will again be making some very efficient changes. This time it is mainly to their privacy policies and terms of service. As Google try to expand on their more personalised service this change is very convenient for both Google and the consumer, but will it affect our search engine optimisation efforts?
Google currently have over 70 privacy documents, the new document will cover and explain what information they collect and how they can use it. This change will mainly affect Google account holders. It states very clearly that if you are signed in, Google will combine any information you have given to one service to another. The idea is that Google can create more personalised results for the users without giving out information outside the Google Network.
In terms of SEO, this will affect which pages are shown in the organic search results depending on the person searching and their history throughout the web. It might also be possible that Google may also look into any sponsored ads the user has clicked on throughout the Google display network. Search engine optimisation is constantly trying to keep up with Google’s constant antics and changes, but it will be interesting to see how far Google go with this policy. Will they start to associate sites that are within the same analytics, Adwords and webmaster tools to personalise results even further for the user?
