Selling Social Media Optimisation

It is difficult for SEO specialists, such as ourselves, when trying to implement social media techniques (or Social Media Optimisation SMO) into brick and mortar companies. Most of these companies do indeed want to embrace new internet marketing ideas, however they tend to view social media as "play time" rather than for business. So how do we explain that social media optimisation and social media websites are useful for marketing? The key element in our explanation is that we emphasise the fact that social media is so outreaching and helps to increase a company's reputation.

Many businesses still insist that social networks such as FaceBook are only for kids. Coincidentally if you look at the statistics for FaceBook over half of its Users are over 21 years of age (and the numbers are growing fast). Another benefit of social media optimisation (SMO) is that their brand and marketing message can be spread for free on these sites. This can definitely help in the current economic climate.

As you can probably tell it does take a lot of effort to try to win over these brick and mortar businesses when it comes to SMO and even Search Engine Optimisation. But when we show potential clients our proven SEO results they can see we know what we are talking about.
