Content Remains King for SEO

Although there is a lot of hype about online video at the moment and its impact on SEO (search engine optimisation), there is still strong evidence that content still remains King when it comes to Page 1 rankings on the search engines.

There are many reasons for this but one key explanation is the workplace. If you work in a cube-based environment then it&'s far easier to read text on screen than it is to watch and listen to a video (you could get into trouble with the boss). Additionally, distribution is a large element on why content remains King on the web vs. video. It's easy to cut and paste text and email it or syndicate it out on an RSS feed. Similarly, if you use a mobile device a lot like a Blackberry then it is much quicker to pull up text than it is to load a video.
