On Page SEO
On Page Optimisation
On page factors are search engine optimisation techniques that can be changed and controlled on the website. They have a huge impact on SEO results and when optimised well can dramatically affect your rankings in very short time, in comparison with off page factors which can take a long time to build up. When working on on page optimisation you need to track the results of every change very carefully in order to spot the changes that are making the most difference to your website rankings.
On Page Factors
These are some of the most influenticial on page factors that should be definately be included in any SEO project. There are so many different techniques being used in search engine optimization campaigns at the moment but these are key points that you need to remember and continue working on.
Meta Data
Meta titles, meta descriptions and meta keywords make up the meta data which should be individually entered for every page on a website. This data tells the search engine what the content of the page is about as like an introduction and will be what Google reads before crawling the rest of the page. It is also the information that shows on search engine results pages to advertise your website. You should contain as many keywords as possible in each field of the meta data and not forgetting to make the meta description an appropriate reflection of that webpage and the website as a whole for the benefit of users.
Headers and Bold Keywords
Identifying headers and bold words within the copy of the page tells the search engine what the topic of the content is and the most important keywords to pay attention to. The headers define the theme of the content, so a header 1 would be the main theme and header 2's and 3's would be sub-themes within that main theme, just like the structure of a menu. The copy of the content should contain multiple keywords to gain optimium keyword density and also these keywords should be varied so as not to be spamming.
Clean Source Code
The code of everypage on the website needs to be clean for the search engines to be able to crawl easily. You should ensure that all W3C errors have been cleared, this is a code validation service which highlights any main errors that will prevent the search engine from crawling thoroughly. Also, any styles or javascript in the code will be 'clogging' it up and should be removed to increase HTML Code to Content ratio.
